Digitization and production efficiency of companies in Piedmont

Call for proposals to support business investments in the Piedmont region regarding digitalization and productive eco-sustainability.

The objectives

  • Strengthen the competitiveness of Piedmont through the consolidation of companies, innovation and product diversification, the development of sectors with higher growth potential, and cross-fertilization between different sectors and actors;
  • Promote the sustainable transformation of the territory and the production system, embracing both the opportunities of the green transition and resilience as well as those of digital transformation;
  • Support the updating of skills in line with the needs of smart specialization and industrial transition, as well as the creation of professional figures that immediately respond to the needs of the labor market;
  • Accompany cohesion and sustainable territorial development, integrated development and the reduction of territorial imbalances

Financial allocation
- Euro 50,000,000 for Line a) Digitalization of companies (Action I.1ii.2 Promoting the digital transition of the entrepreneurial system)
- Euro 30,000,000 for Line b) Production efficiency of companies (Action I.1iii.1. Support for competitiveness and sustainable transition of the regional production system)

The beneficiaries

SMEs, including micro-enterprises; small mid-cap companies and mid-cap companies (hereinafter, mid-cap companies).


Eligible projects

Projects with the following financial dimensions (excluding VAT) will be eligible:
- for micro and small enterprises, minimum amount equal to € 50,000;-for medium enterprises, minimum amount equal to € 100,000;
- for mid-cap companies, minimum amount equal to € 250,000.

The funded interventions must contribute to at least one of the following specific objectives of the Regional Strategy for Sustainable Development (SRSvS):
✔Increase the sustainability of products and production processes, also by exploiting the full potential of the most innovative technologies
✔Support the development of new high-innovation production specializations, based on the economy paradigm
✔ Promote technological innovation and the transition of the production system ✔Spread environmental sustainability certification systems (LCA, carbon footprint, etc.) on raw materials and in company activities
✔ Reduce waste production and promote the correct use of biomass

Eligible expenses

1. Expenses for the purchase of machinery and equipment or for the supply of components functional to the performance of the activity, such as the purchase of plants, machinery and equipment for production use, brand new or refurbished, including: the purchase of software and hardware, the purchase of clean or zero-emission vehicles (excluding category M1),
2. Purchase of photovoltaic panels accessory to the main investment project and up to a maximum of 20% of the eligible expenses;
3. Expenses for the installation and laying of plants, including masonry works, exclusively serving the assets referred to in the previous point, within the limit of 20% of the relative investments;
4. Expenses for intellectual property rights, limited to the purchase of patents, know-how, non-patented technical knowledge instrumental to the project, including licenses, within the limit of 10% of the eligible expenses;
5. Expenses for design and development, strictly connected and functional to the investment project, intended as external costs incurred for the design and development relating to the specific product/process, including costs for certifications.

Feasibility studies started before the submission of the application are included, provided they are after 7/10/2022 and strictly related to the investment project.


The incentive

Financial instrument combined with a non-repayable grant (SMEs only). The subsidized loan can cover up to 100% of the eligible costs and consists of 70% zero-interest resources PR FESR 2021/2027 and the remaining 30% from bank funds; furthermore, exclusively for SMEs, the disbursement of a non-repayable grant (Max 20%) is provided.


Submission of the application
